2018 Highlights: Your Top Five MegaCountry Artists of the Year
- December 18, 2018
The numbers are in: you love Luke Bryan, Miranda Lambert, Dierks Bentley, Jason Aldean and Shania Twain!
With 2018 coming to a close, let’s take some time to celebrate your top five artists on MegaCountry and their top achievements!
1. Luke Bryan: First country artist to headline Dodger Stadium.
When Luke Bryan set out on the What Makes You Country Tour - XL Stadium Sized, he also embarked on a major feat: playing Dodger Stadium. Bryan is the first country artist to headline the venue, joining top artists from other genres including Paul McCartney, Beyoncé and Fleetwood Mac. Bryan has said of the occasion, “Growing up in south Georgia and moving to Nashville, you think about markets like New York City and LA and all these far-off places. When you realize your music has touched people in these huge markets out here, it’s very, very surreal, and when you have the opportunity to go into these iconic places and headline ‘em and sell ‘em out, it’s hard to wrap your head around it and something that you try not to take for granted when it happens.”
2. Miranda Lambert: 2018′s Country Music Hall Of Fame’s Artist-In-Residence.
As a seven-time CMA Female Vocalist of the Year winner, it’s no wonder Lambert earned the prestigious honor for Country Music Hall Of Fame's Artist-In-Residence which first launched in 2003. “The history that the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum holds is so important,” said Lambert. “It’s truly an honor to be named artist-in-residence for the museum. I’m thankful for this place, where our music can continue to be cherished, and I’m thrilled to be among the esteemed artists who have been honored by this designation.”
3. Dierks Bentley: Launched Seven Peaks Festival in Buena Vista, Colorado.
Although Dierks is originally from Arizona, Bentley claims Colorado is his favorite state. Therefore, it was the perfect place to launch his very own festival, Seven Peaks, bringing together the sounds of bluegrass, country and the thrill of camping in the mountains. The 2018 inagural festiacl took place over Labor Day weekend and included Bentley himself, Miranda Lambert, Brothers Osborne, Elle King, LANCO, Sam Bush, The Cadillac Three, Del McCoury Band and more for an unbelievable showcase.
4. Jason Aldean: Broke records with eighth studio album, Rearview Town.
While few artists can top radio charts, Aldean is only one of two country artists in history who have taken the No. 1 position on Billboard’s all-genre Top 200 Album chart with four consecutive studio albums reaching that feat (the other artist being Luke Bryan). Aldean took the hit record on on this headlining High Noon Neon Tour this year, playing music across the United States.
5. Shania Twain: Kicked off her first world tour in 15 years, the NOW World Tour.
It was a huge year for Shania Twain’s career as she took 2017′s Now on the road for packed crowds and multiple sold out shows. The 77-date tour launched May 3 in Tacoma, Washington and wraps December 22 in Dunedin, New Zealand. Add that busy touring schedule to her duties as a judge on USA’s Real Country talent competition, and it’s clear Twain has had quite a year.
