Dolly Parton, who has been named the 2019 MusiCares Person of the Year, will be honored at with a star-studded celebration during this year’s GRAMMY week in February.
MusiCares, the Recording Academy’s charitable branch “that ensures music people have a place to turn in times of financial, medical, and personal need,” honors an artist each year who displays unparalleled philanthropy. Parton was honored to be chosen, sharing, "I am so excited and humbled to be honored as MusiCares Person of the Year. It’s even more special knowing the gala benefits music people in need. I can’t wait to hear all of the great artists singing my music.“
The GRAMMY Week gala will be on February 8th, two days before the GRAMMY Awards, and will feature performers from all over the music community, who will sing and give their take on some of Parton’s most iconic tunes.
Parton is the first member of the Nashville music community to be named MusiCares Person of the Year and many others will be there to honor her. Vince Gill, Willie Nelson, Kacey Musgraves, and Chris Stapleton, will also represent Nashville’s Country Music community by performing at the event.
Other performers include Norah Jones, P!nk, Mark Ronson, Leon Bridges, Lauren Dangle, Shawn Mendes, Don Henley, Mavis Staples, and Linda Perry.
It’s no doubt that Parton is a deserving recipient of the Person of the Year title and we can’t wait to see these amazing artists honor her the best way they know how: through music.
