Sure, Nashville is where the heart of country music lives, but there’s a reason the Wild West earned its name. Country fans from all over Southern California gathered Wednesday night at Los Angeles’ famed Viper Room for the first-ever Hot Country Nights, west coast get down.

With modern country hits kicking the evening off to get everyone loose for some line dancing (Luke Bryan’s “Kick the Dust Up” is what got the crowd really moving), infectious energy built up until the debut of the live house band which played 34 popular covers (and originals by rising talents Hannah Dasher and Chris Shrader) for two-and-a-half hours straight. Judging by the packed venue and pumped crowd, you could tell the LA scene has been looking for a recurring show like this.
