As Halloween is quickly approaching, it’s that time a year again to get your spooky movie-marathon on! We’ve compiled a list featuring some of the best flicks you can watch when you’re in the mood for witches and goblins, or just looking for a good scare. Though you may be too old to trick or treat, you’re never too old to celebrate this spooky season with scary movies. So grab your friends and buckle down on a cold October night for some good ole binge-watching!

Coraline (Available on Netflix)

If you’re a fan of the classic tale of Alice in Wonderland, then you will likely love a similar yet spookier film, Coraline. Released back in 2009, Coraline follows the story of a young girl who begrudgingly moves to a new town and into an eerie new house that is a portal into a new world. While it seemingly is a dream land compared to her current life, Coraline quickly learns a dark creature inhabits this new world and must complete a series of tasks to save the people she loves. With a sinister villain, creepy talking animals and a dream world that is anything but, this cartoon is not your average children’s movie.

The Shining (Available on Netflix)

If you’re a fan of 1980’s era flicks and are in the mood for a chilling take on Stephen Kings terrifying novel, make sure to log onto Netlix now and start watching The Shining. This scary motion picture shows Jack Nicholson as he slowly turns manic in an isolated hotel in Colorado. Warning- you may not want to watch this before your upcoming vacation because we promise you will be thoroughly spooked while wandering the halls of your next hotel.

The Babysitter (Available on Netflix)

In the mood for something terrifying and hilarious? Check out the Netflix original film The Babysitter, a 2017 teen horror-comedy, starring Bella Thorne. The plot centers on a young boy who stays up past his bed time to see what his babysitter does after he is supposed to go to sleep. However, to his horror the young boy discovers his babysitter to be a satanic monster and must survive long enough till his parents get home. Featuring multiple ceremonial sacrifices, brutal stabbings and explosions, this film will have you flinching and laughing at the same time!

The Conjuring (Available on Netflix)

The 2013 eye-covering horror film The Conjuring will definitely get your blood pumping! Based on true events, this chilling film tells the story of the Perron family, who in 1971 began experiencing increasingly disturbing events in their Rhode Island farmhouse. This film became an instant box office hit and a sequel was released in 2016. The third film is currently in the works, so make sure you catch up and watch the first two films this halloween season.

Halloweentown (Available on Amazon Prime)

In the mood for something a little less bone-chilling? Head to Amazon Prime and rent one of our childhood favorite films, Halloweentown. This original Disney Channel movie is about a young girl named Marnie and her siblings as they visit their grandmother in the spooky world of Halloweentown. As they discover the secret behind their strange family heritage, the kids must find a way to stop a dark force from taking over the town. Filled with trolls, witches and goblins, everything is not what it seems. This is a spook-tactic adventure, fun for the whole family!

Hocus Pocus (rent on Amazon Prime)

Looking for another Disney original throwback? Hocus Pocus is the perfect movie to pair with Halloweentown when you’re in the mood for a cute and cozy fall night. This fun 1993 flick is about the Sanderson sisters, three witches who come back from the dead on Halloween night to try and suck the life out of the children of Salem before sunrise. As the trio begin to descend on the New England town, it’s up to a small group of kids and their talking black cat to stop the sisters before its too late. Cozy up and get ready for some sing-along songs, flying broomsticks and all of our favorite halloween characters!

Casper (rent on Amazon Prime)

Continuing with childhood classics, we all love Casper the friendly ghost! This film is about a young ghost named Casper who is kind and resides in an old abandoned mansion with his three ghoulish uncles. Ghost specialist James Harvey is hired to communicate with Casper and brings along his teenage daughter Kat, but all plans of ghost busting go awry as they usually do! Check out this adorable Halloween favorite good for the whole family!

Paranormal Activity (rent on Amazon Prime)

Looking for something a little more scary? Settle down and get ready to be thoroughly frightened by Paranormal Activity. The first movie of this 4-part series focuses on a young couple, Katie and Micah, that are haunted by a supernatural presence. The couple decides to set up cameras throughout their home to see what is really happening and the film is shown through the perspective of that camera. Though the demonic presence is minor at first, it begins to grow worse after Micah decides to torment it. If you have ever been curious about the supernatural, or demons, this film will have you on edge for days!

American Psycho (rent on Amazon Prime)

We all love a good motion picture set in New York City, and we especially love when these flicks feature Christian Bale and Reese Witherspoon! American Psycho tells the story of Patrick Bateman (Christian Bale) as he slowly becomes more and more psychotic. His psycho alter ego becomes scarier and more violent over time and will have you thoroughly questioning if people really are who they say they are.

The Nightmare Before Christmas (streaming on Hulu)

To end our list of seasonal favorites, is a film that transitions us from Halloween into the Christmas season. The Nightmare Before Christmas is a unique tale about Jack Skeleton, the king of Halloween Town, as he discovers Christmas and attempts to introduce this holiday to the people of his town. Jack’s mission, though good intentioned, ultimately puts Santa Clause in danger and creates a nightmare for all the good boys and girls!

This is a list of some of our favorite fall movies streaming online now. Check out the films and let us know which ones you love most!
