Artist: Stephen Carey

Carey's music combines pop tempos with southern-rock grit, all while maintaining an upbeat country sound. Upon moving to Nashville, Carey picked up a job as a demo-singer. In the studio one day, Carey was lucky enough to work with the lead singer of The Cadillac Three, Neil Mason. Quick friends, they began to regularly collaborate together, including the creation of Carey's debut single, “Summer Cool." The track has quickly soared on Spotify, with over one million streams. Listen for yourself below:

While working on his debut album, Carey explains to Rolling Stone Country the fusion of his music and how he doesn't like to be boxed in to a specific sound, "We've got some beach-influenced tunes and some darker, rock-driven songs, which is a huge part of my history back in Jacksonville. I'm learning it's OK for an artist to not just be 'the beach guy' or 'the leather-jacket rock guy,' because you can be both. That's Jacksonville. You've got the gritty downtown, the riverside and the beach, then you drive 20 minutes and you're in the country. That's the sound of where I'm from, and it's a reflection of me.“

We can't wait to hear more from Stephen Carey in the coming months! Until then, we'll be listening to “Summer Cool" all summer long.
