Sugarland Performs ‘Stay’ & 'Stuck Like Glue' With ‘Idol’ Hopefuls
Recently, Sugarland duo Kristian Bush and Jennifer Nettles stopped by American Idol as part of a series of celebrity duet pairings with the show’s Top 24 contestants. As a way to narrow down the stiff competition, the country sensations' performed with both Idol hopefuls Layla Spring and Gabby Barrett, and while both put on an amazing performance, fans had to say goodbye to Spring.
Sugarland kicked off the night with 16-year-old Spring, singing their hit “Stuck Like Glue,” which is a lighthearted anthem for forever-young romance. With Spring's raspy vocals and high-energy stage presence, she held her own while sharing verses with Nettles and Bush. Finishing up the performance, Nettles asks, "How much energy does she have?“ The show’s celebrity judges agreed, with Katy Perry advising "Layla Spring, you are springing full of joy, and I think that’s kind of the making of a star – someone who has both talent and personality – and you’ve got it.”

Next up is Pittsburg native Barrett, whose bright vocals and emotional depth make her the perfect duet partner for Sugarland's ballad “Stay." Nettles and Barrett play off each others voices with stunning harmonies that the judges couldn’t help but love.
“I don’t know if we’ve seen somebody today nail it from top to bottom, and you didn’t miss one thing,” said Luke Bryan. "I know exactly what it’s like to sing with Jennifer,“ added Lionel Richie, who sang with Nettles for his 2012 Tuskegee country album. "You can almost follow the dots, she walks you right through it. It’s one thing to follow the dots, it’s another thing to hit the points.”
