Just in case you didn't know, Maren Morris just dropped the music video for “Rich", her latest single off of her debut album Hero, and guess who's playing the cowboy opposite Morris? That's right, it's none other than husband Ryan Hurd, whom she may or may not convinced to star in using the marriage card (with nothing but love, of course)!
“Ryan looks really good in it. Ryan looks better than I do in it. Yeah, so it's a Western," Morris explained to Sounds Like Nashville. “I think a lot of people were thinking we would go super Vegas-y with it but I think we just wanted to do something unexpected and Ryan has never been in a video of mine, so I was like, 'We're getting married in a month. I think you owe me this,' and so, he's the cowboy in it and it was the most fun, easy shoot I've ever done."
The music video certainly has some old school Western vibes and we are loving it! It looks like a mini-movie, and that's because the country singer brought on director TK McKamy on board for this video. McKamy, who previously directed Thomas Rhett's “Craving You" featuring Maren Morris, packs a ton of action into the 3-5 minutes of a music video, which Morris herself refers to as “badass".
“I kind of conquered my fear of horses. I have a very nice horse," said the “Rich" singer about the filming process. “It's the last single from the record and we get to do this crazy badass Western video for it. TK McKamy, who did the 'Craving You' video, directed 'Rich,' so he just had such a great treatment for it and he's a badass himself. So, it's going to be really cool and should be out, we're not going to have to wait too long for all of it… it's very funny and doesn't take itself too seriously, which is the meaning of 'Rich.‘"
