[Listen] New York School Choir ‘Champions’ Cover Of Carrie Underwood Hit
Carrie Underwood's hit song “The Champion" is nothing short of empowering and inspirational, so when the New York-based Public School 22 chorus covered the track, it certainly caught her attention! Underwood absolutely loved the fifth-graders' version of her powerful anthem, so much she gave them a shout-out on her Twitter, posting a link to the video!

The PS22 chorus is directed by Gregg Breinberg, who originally posted the video to Youtube on Monday (March 26) where it eventually made its way to Underwood. The chorus group is no stranger to the attention, though, as they have been previously recognized by artists like Taylor Swift, Adele, and Garth Brooks in the past for their talented covers.
“Carrie Underwood's hot new single #TheChampion (ft. Ludacris) has brought us a lot of joy – first the thrill of the PS22 Chorus cameo in Carrie's official video, and second??" Breinberg wrote in a Facebook post, sharing his praise for the choir group. “THIS!!! And the all-caps and exclamation points don't even begin to do this justice… See for yourself!! Massive props to the chorus on this one for bringing some atomic energy and killer harmony, our wicked cool rappers Joshua & Madison, drummer extraordinaire Quentin, and lil' powerhouse Leiara who blew us away with that KO solo!! Champions indeed!!"
“The Champion", which also features vocals by Ludacris in addition to Underwood, was an instant hit when it first aired during the Super Bowl LII. With over 100 million viewers watching, it's no surprise the chart-topping anthem hit No. 1 after the game.

Underwood's success continues with 2018 ACM nominations for Female Vocalist of the Year and Vocal Event of the year for her duet with Keith Urban ("The Fighter"). With new music currently in the works, be sure to catch Carrie later this year at the 2018 CMA Fest in Nashville in June and We Fest in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota in August where she's sure to perform “The Champion"!
