Pistol Annies Make A Surprise Appearance On Miranda Lambert’s Tour
This past weekend was a treat for Pistol Annies fans, as bandmates Angaleena Presley and Ashley Monroe joined Miranda Lambert onstage for a mini-reunion, performing two of their top hits.
Lambert, who is currently traveling the country on her Livin' Like Hippies Tour, was stopped in Lexington, Kentucky at the Rupp Arena for the night when Monroe and Presley showed up. Though Monroe did join Lambert the previous night in Lexington, Kentucky for a duet of “Heart Like Mine", the trio didn't officially reunite until the following evening.
Together, Pistol Annies sang two songs from their debut album Hell on Heels. The album, released in 2011, was certified gold, sold over 500,000 copies, and even reached No. 1 on the Billboard Country music charts! The trio performed the title track and first single, “Hell on Heels" and Takin' Pills, which also appears on the album. Check out the performances from the Rupp Center below!
Following the success of Hell on Heels, Pistol Annies released Annie Up nearly two years later in 2013. The trio was set to perform in June of that year but abruptly canceled their performances, leaving Lambert to fill in a couple as a solo piece. Although the trio has not officially performed or released any new music since then, all three members have denied any rumors of a breakup or bad blood between them. With the confirmation last year that Pistol Annies would release new music in 2018, Lambert recently teased fans in an Instagram post with the hashtags “#andsoitbegins", “#music", and “#maybepistolannies". The post features a black-and-white image of a notebook, guitar, and glass of wine, so it looks like Lambert was definitely inspired!
Lambert's next performance is March 8, in Omaha, Nebraska at the CenturyLink Center featuring Jon Pardi and Sunny Sweeney as opening acts. With the tour running through the end of March, we hope to see Pistol Annies perform one more time!
