To celebrate the patriotic holiday, fans will flock to the Austin360 Amphitheater at the Circuit of the Americas (COTA) track out in East Austin, enduring the Texas heat to enjoy country music favorites like Ray Wylie Hubbard, Asleep at the Wheel and Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real. Nelson has hosted this exciting event since 1973, inviting an array of special guests throughout the years and consistently delivering a show fans love. Tickets go on sale to the general public via Ticketmaster on March 9 at 10AM, CST. A presale starts on July 7, and those wanting to snag tickets ASAP should sign up for presale information on the COTA website HERE. Prices range from $799 for “Shotgun" VIP tickets to $42.50 for lawn access.
Nelson's picnic tradition started with the Dripping Springs Reunion in 1973 with the idea of putting together a “Hillbilly Woodstock." The reunion featured big names such as Bill Monroe, Buck Owens, Charlie Rich, Dottie West, Roger Miller, Loretta Lynn, Waylon Jennings, and Kris Kristofferson. Over the years the picnics have gone on to feature a variety of country artist as well as up-and-comers right beside big name talent.
