During an emotional surprise, Keith Urban invited fellow country star Chris Janson to join Nashville's famous mother church. Janson, who has performed at the Grand Ole Opry many times since the start of his career, will become the newest member of the country-music institution and will be inducted this coming Spring.
The invitation came during Janson’s Monday night, February 5, headlining concert at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium. Urban, who appeared as a special guest during Janson's performance, performed John Michael Montgomery’s 1995 hit “Sold (The Grundy County Auction Incident)" with Janson, a song they first collaborated on during a joint Opry appearance in October, before he extended the offer. "I know the feeling of the night I got invited, it’s an incredible feeling. And I think it’s about time you feel that way too, Chris,” Urban said on stage. Janson leapt up and down, unable to contain his excitement, before brushing away some tears and embracing his wife Kelly, who joined him onstage with Grand Ole Opry general manager Sally Williams.
Once he composed himself, Janson emphatically exclaimed, “holy shit.” Watch the heartwarming moment in the clip below:
The country singer has been a fan favorite since his since his debut EP released back in 2013 and has been making waves with his latest single, “Drunk Girl," which puts a new spin on the importance of consent.
