When Justin Timberlake announced he was dropping a new album in 2018, fans speculated that Chris Stapleton would make an appearance on at least one of the tracks. Sure enough, Timberlake later announced that his upcoming album, Man of the Woods, would feature the country crooner and finally released their latest collaboration “Say Something."
The song's video features Timberlake wandering through an industrial building, appearing to be trying to find something as he belts “Maybe I'm looking for something I can't have" and pans onto Stapleton who echoes his sentiments. The song is a rousing number that showcases both artists' musicianship and vocals, and inspires the listener to stomp their feet and clap their hands to the infectious rhythm. During the video, the song ends abruptly which causes the audience standing in the wings of the video shoot to spontaneously erupt in applause out of pure shock and awe. "Holy shit – that's one way to get a response,“ you can hear Timberlake say, as Stapleton cackles in the background.
