“The Rare Country Awards celebrate the authenticity of country music and the undeniable connection between country artists and their fans.”
The 2017 Rare Country Awards mark the second year that Rare Country has hosted a show to celebrate the best in country music. The winners are determined by Rare Country fans, who can vote online through December 13. Fans can even enter for a chance to attend the event, which will be live-streamed from Nashville on December 14, 2017. The show will feature performances and special guest surprises.
Since last year, the awards have grown from eight to ten nomination categories. While most shows have similar categories, Rare Country curated unique new awards, such as Fan Moment of the Year, Story of the Year, and Grand Ole Opry Moment of the Year.
“Fan Moment of the Year” nominees are Blake Shelton’s “Big Easy Hug,” Garth Brooks delivers “Baby News,” Jason Aldean welcomes “Fan on Stage,” Luke Bryan & Granny “Break the Rules,” Rascal Flatts’ “Wedding Surprise,” and Scotty McCreery visits “Ailing Fan.”
“Story of the Year” nominees include Miranda Lambert “Stuns at the ACM Awards,” Tim & Faith “Sizzle on Stage,” Carrie Underwood the “Ultimate Hockey Fan,” Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s “Final Lap,” Thomas Rhett’s “Fairy Tale Year,” and Kenny Chesney “Supports St. John.”
“Opry Moment of the Year” nominees are Reba celebrates her “Opry 40th with Carrie Underwood performing "Does He Love You,” Chris Young’s “Unexpected Invitation from Vince Gill,” Keith Urban’s “Crowd Duet of "The Fighter,” Ashley McBryde’s “Girl Goin’ Nowhere,” and Carly Pearce’s “Breakout Performance of "Every Little Thing.”
Nominees for Male Artist of the Year are Blake Shelton, Keith Urban, Luke Bryan, Kane Brown, Thomas Rhett, and Sam Hunt.
Female Artist of the Year nominees are Miranda Lambert, Kelsea Ballerini, Carrie Underwood, Faith Hill, Lauren Alaina, and Maren Morris.
Duo/Group of the Year nominees are Little Big Town, Lady Antebellum, Florida Georgia Line, Rascal Flatts, Brothers Osborne, and Dan + Shay.
New Artist of the Year award nominees include LANCO, Luke Combs, Midland, Jon Pardi, Brett Young, and RaeLynn.
Nominees for “Tour of the Year” are Jason Aldean’s “They Don’t Know Tour,” Florida Georgia Line’s “Smooth Tour,” Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood’s “The Garth Brooks World Tour with Trisha Yearwood,” Luke Bryan’s “Huntin’, Fishin’, and Lovin’ Every Day Tour,” Dierks Bentley’s “2017 What the Hell World Tour.”
Finally, the last category is “Duet of the Year” with nominees: Maren Morris and Vince Gill for “Dear Hate,” Tim McGraw and Faith Hill for “The Rest of Our Life,” Kane Brown and Lauren Alaina for “What Ifs,” Keith Urban and Carrie Underwood for “The Fighter,” and Thomas Rhett and Maren Morris, again, for “Craving You.”
