They call her Nostalgia.
Emily Hackett thinks of herself as a “front porch-loving, bit-of-Southern-Rock truckin', and tell-it-like-it-is Singer-Songwriter." At a young age, she already has many accolades, from Sirius XM Radio's Best Coffeehouse Cover with Megan Davies, to Belk's Modern Southern Music Showcase, and, most recently, reaching the No. 8 spot on CMT Music's 12-Pack Countdown for the video for her new single “Nostalgia" (written with Steph Jones and her husband, Mikey Reaves).
Last week, the Atlanta-native performed some of her songs for the Girls of Fall show in Nashville, which features some of the best female songwriters in the music industry, including Heather Morgan and Colbie Caillat. She is also a part of CMT's Artist Discovery program and a Radio Disney artist. Hackett and Megan Davies' cover of “Royals" by Lorde has over half-a-million views on YouTube, was featured on Buzzfeed, and made it to the final round of Ryan Seacrest's “Best Royals Covers" competition.
Hackett combines emotions and the truth into her songwriting. “I find that speaking the truth, although it should seem simple, is one of the most difficult things to do as you grow up. Even if a negative thought about the choices you're making crosses your mind, it's rare to give it more than a few seconds of your time, let alone bring it to fruition in full lyrical form. That's what I have learned to do as a writer. If I can't be honest with someone to their face or to myself in a relationship, it'll always come out in a song"
You may have seen Hackett on tour with country superstars Lady Antebellum, Jason Aldean, Luke Bryan, and Rascal Flatts. She even has a duet with Will Anderson from Parachute called “Take My Hand (The Wedding Song)" that peaked at No. 4 on iTunes Singer-Songwriter chart.
