Star-Studded Opening Number Announced for 2017 CMA Awards

The latest announcement from The Country Music Association (CMA) introduced another large group of performers, including the opening number, for next Wednesday's (11/8) 51st CMA Awards. Joining an already incredible roster of performers are Keith Urban, pop-superstar P!nk, and a duet from Tim McGraw and Faith Hill.

All of these newly-announced acts are nominated for CMA Awards this year. Urban holds four nominations: Entertainer of the Year, Single of the Year, Male Vocalist of the Year, and Music Video of the Year. P!nk is nominated for Musical Event of the Year, alongside Kenny Chesney for their smash-hit, “Setting the World on Fire.” Tim McGraw and Faith Hill are up for Musical Event of the Year as well.

The show’s opening act incorporates a remarkable collaboration, featuring Eric Church, Lady Antebellum, Darius Rucker, and Keith Urban, who cumulatively hold nine nominations this year. CMA has also hinted that there will be more acts added to the opening number, so tune in next week to find out what tricks CMA has up their sleeve.

Other revealed performers gracing the stage include Alan Jackson, Chris Stapleton, Little Big Town, Miranda Lambert, Old Dominion, Luke Bryan, Brothers Osborne, Thomas Rhett, Jon Pardi, and reigning Entertainer of the Year Garth Brooks. There will also be duets by Dierks Bentley and Rascal Flatts, Kelsea Ballerini and Reba, Maren Morris and Niall Horan, and Brad Paisley and Kane Brown.

The awards will be hosted by Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood for the 10th year at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, TN. Tune-in for a night of music on ABC on Wednesday, November 8, at 8/7c. For a full list of performers, check out CMA’s website here.
