What do Garth Brooks, Miranda Lambert, Brothers Osborne, Eric Church, Little Big Town, Old Dominion, Jon Pardi, Thomas Rhett, Chris Stapleton and Alan Jackson all have in common? They will be performing at the 51st CMA Awards on Wednesday, November 8. The evening, set to be hosted by Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood who will be teaming up to MC together for the tenth time, will take place at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee.
Miranda Lambert leads the pack with five nominations, followed closely by Keith Urban and Little Big Town who are up for four awards. The “Tin Man" singer's five nominations include, Album of the Year, Single of the Year, Song of the Year, Female Vocalist of the Year and Music Video of the Year.
The following three artists, Church, Rhett and Maren Morris, each snagged three nominations this year. Chris Stapleton, who is already a 5-time CMA Award winner is, “nominated for Entertainer of the Year, Male Vocalist, and Album of the Year for From A Room: Volume 1. He receives one nomination for album, but can receive an additional trophy as producer. This is his third consecutive nomination for Male, which he's won the past two years. He was also nominated for Entertainer last year and won Album for Traveller in 2015. He is an 11-time CMA Awards nominee."
For those of you wondering how the voting process works, this blurb from the CMA site should help: “Winners of “The 51st Annual CMA Awards" will be determined in a final round of voting by eligible voting CMA members. The third and final ballot closes Wednesday, Oct. 25 (6:00 PM/CT). Ballots will be tabulated by the professional services organization Deloitte & Touche LLP."
