Carly Pearce took the country charts by storm with her heartbreaking ballad, “Every Little Thing," and now, the Big Machine artist's highly anticipated debut album has finally dropped.
Carly Pearce's Debut Album Every Little
Every Little Thing – produced and partially penned by GRAMMY-nominee busbee (Maren Morris, Lady Antebellum) – features 13 tracks. The album kicks off with “Hide the Wine," an upbeat, bluegrass-tinged tune recalling the dangers of drinking with an ex, written by Nashville hit-makers Ashley Gorley, Luke Laird, and Hillary Lindsey.
Pearce wrote track two, “Careless," with her “favorite co-writer
Shackelton, in under an hour while the two shared a meal.
“She and I got together and kind of weren't feeling it and we ordered Panera [Bread]," Pearce shared in a Twitter video. “I remember this day so, so vividly – she plays keyboard and she had her little keyboard and she was like, 'Hey, I have this melody and this idea of a play on the word careless.' So we started talking about relationships and this song fell out in 30 minutes. We were eating Panera as we were writing it and it happened and we kind of looked at each other and we were like, 'I really love this. Is it good? It can't be good if we just wrote it in 30 minutes!'
“We loved it, because we've both had those relationship where you spin in a circle and you break up with somebody then you go back with them, then you break up with them, then go back with them, then finally you just have to be strong enough to go, 'You know what? I could care less what you're doing tonight. Get out of my life.' And that's kind of how it came about."
The Kentucky native, who began performing at Dollywood at age 16, also wrote the album's devastating title track with Shackelton, along with busbee, in the aftermath of a shattering breakup.
“I wrote 'Every Little Thing' about a guy who really broke my heart. It's a true story about what you really go through and what I really went through in those moments of trying to figure out how you're going to move on without somebody, and realizing that your heart is going to decide when to let him go and not you," she says in a behind the scenes video. “'Every Little Thing' is one of the most proud moments as a songwriter I've ever had."
Pearce's willingness to share her most vulnerable, gut-wrenching
memories has paid off in spades – audiences have enthusiastically embraced the
relatable hit, regularly singing along to “Every Little Thing" at her shows.
Earlier this week, Pearce was overcome by emotion and gratitude as a crowd belted out her chorus.
