As it is known in Nashville, the “music city's most important gig" is gearing up to celebrate their 10th anniversary with a concert at Nashville's City Winery set for October 26, 2017.
Musicians On Call is a nonprofit founded by Michael Solomon and Vivek Tiwary in 1999 following the painful passing's of two of their respective loved ones at the same hospital in New York. After witnessing the healing power of music in the hospital setting, they decided to dedicate themselves to bringing this cause nationwide.
The below video from the event site provides a comprehensive explanation of the organizations connection to Nashville hospitals and health community.
As is stated on their website, “Musicians On Call brings live and recorded music to the bedsides of patients in healthcare facilities. By delivering live, in-room performances to patients undergoing treatment or unable to leave their beds, we add a dose of joy to life in a healthcare facility. Since 1999, Musicians On Call volunteer musicians have performed for nearly 600,000 patients and their families."
With all the incredibly talented people that call Nashville home, the Musicians on Call program is beyond impressive. This year, in a fundraising effort, Lady Antebellum will headline the anniversary concert which will feature additional not yet announced acts. All that, and the evening will be hosted by country radio superstar Bobby Bones, a MOC volunteer veteran himself.
