Country Artists Show Support for Victims of Hurricane Harvey

Texas is currently suffering from the worst natural disaster in the states recorded history with Category 4 storm, Hurricane Harvey. The disaster has displaced many and is responsible for at least five deaths so far. In the wake of the tragic event, country stars are using their star power for the greater good.

Tennessee native Chris Young has deep roots in the Lone Star State, the singer has launched a GoFundMe to provide direct support for victims of Hurricane Harvey.

“As everyone knows, Texas was hit Friday by Hurricane Harvey which made landfall as a category four hurricane, the largest storm to hit the area in decades," said Chris. “Port Aransas, Rockport, Corpus Christi, Houston and so many other places are going to be dealing with so much damage and loss of life for a long time to come. I'm worried about the people there — my friends, family and neighbors — and I want to help. I'm starting this GoFundMe campaign in an effort to help everyone in Texas that has been affected by this hurricane."

To help kick things off, Young donated $100,000 to benefit the Red Cross and other local disaster relief organizations throughout Texas. You can make a contribution to Chris Young's GoFundMe campaign here: https://www.gofundme.com/harveyrelief.

Lady Antebellum was set to perform in Houston on Saturday, August 26 but was forced to cancel the show due to Harvey. The band decided to donate all merch sales from Friday's Dallas show for relief to victims. No word yet on if their Houston show will be rescheduled for a later date.

Other stars like Miranda Lambert, RaeLynn, A Thousand Horses and Blake Shelton have shown their support on social media:

In such trying times it warms our hearts to see these good folks step up and lend their support. We're certain more charity and support will surface in the coming days.
