In today's modern world, none of us are immune to the frustrations of communication. It seems like most anyone you know has a cellphone, but when it comes to dating, that same phone can become your worst enemy.
Luke Bryan captures the essence of that struggle perfectly, thoroughly detailing modern communication problems in his latest single, “Light It Up," the first release from the his forthcoming album due out later in 2017. The song was cowritten by Bryan and Old Dominion's Brad Tursi and is bit more moody than his prior singles, featuring R&B undertones with some eighties nostalgia. Bryan's song showcases the singer in a difficult situation, waiting by his phone and waiting for the person her loves to reach out.

“Light It Up" is extremely relatable and spotlights a very real issue in modern dating and communication. "I wake up, I check it / I shower and I check it / I feel the buzz in my truck and I almost wreck it,“ Bryan sings. Sometimes something as small as waiting on a call or text message can consume our whole world and while it may seem silly, make or break relationships.
