Dierks Bentley shared on Twitter yesterday (July 20) that one of his songs will be featured in the soon-to-be-released movie Only The Brave.
so honored to have a song in this film. it sheds light on the lifestyle of wilderness fire fighters and honors these men and their families.— Dierks Bentley (@DierksBentley)July 20, 2017
The director's decision to feature Dierks Bentley was as obvious as they come. This isn't just a typical moment where the director plays favorites based on songs they like, or hears a random song, and says “that one sounds good for this movie! Let's use it!"
Director Joseph Kosinski knows that Bentley has a personal connection to the matter. So not only does the song fit the soundtrack and the storyline as a whole, but it's imbued with Bentley's understanding and appreciation of the tragic firefighter tale.
Only The Brave is based on the true story of the Granite Mountain Hotshots, an elite group of firefighters who gave their lives in an effort to corral the raging Yarnell Hill fire that tore through Arizona in 2013. This past April, on the way home from the Academy of Country Music Awards, Bentley and his mother paid personal tribute to the Granite Mountain Hotshots at their memorial in Yarnell.
The star-studded, powerful movie stars Josh Brolin, Jeff Bridges, Jennifer Connelly, Miles Teller, and Taylor Kitsch, and debuts on October 20.
We have a few guesses as to which song of Bentley's might be in the film — with the best candidates being “Riser" and “Feel The Fire." But there's one thing we know for sure: Dierks Bentley's music belongs in this film.
