Dylan Scott is celebrating the first No. 1 song of his career this week. After climbing the charts for 46 weeks, “My Girl" rose to the top spot on Mediabase and Billboard's Country Airplay chart. The song is a single from Scott's self-titled debut album that was released last year. A deluxe edition of the album including three new tracks is set to come out on August 4 of this year. With the success of “My Girl," Scott took the opportunity to thank everyone that helped contribute to the song's success on Saturday via Instagram.
Scott wrote “My Girl" about his lovely wife, Blair Anderson. She has always been his biggest supporter and fan, which make this “first" even more special. When he began to doubt himself, Blair always reassured him.
In a quote from Nash Country Daily, Scott stated that his wife has “never once given me a hard time… She was just a great motivator. She still is." When describing the meaning of the song he stated, “'My Girl' is basically about our life over the past 10 years. Almost everything in that song is true. We lived it." Just to add to the excitement, the couple celebrated their first wedding anniversary in May and is expecting their first child in December.
While “My Girl" is penned about Scott's wife, he co-wrote the track with the rising hit songwriter Josh Kerr beside him. Kerr now has three Number 1 singles under his belt, after the enormous success of Kelsea Ballerini's “Love You Like You Mean It" and “Dibs."
We think it's safe to say that the rising country star's future looks bright and we are excited to celebrate his future success with him. Don't forget to check out Dylan Scott Deluxe Edition, coming this August.
