Successful duo Dan + Shay may have found their fame in the country music world, but that doesn't mean they only know country musicians. Dan + Shay have increasingly been seen with other artists outside of their genre, which is likely not a coincidence. The duo, who already have a cross blend of pop and country music, may actually be gravitating towards them on purpose, looking to collaborate with artists in other styles of music.

In a recent interview, Dan + Shay discuss their friendship with pop artists' Nick Jonas and Niall Horan as well as the surprising similarities in their musical interests. In regards to Niall, “Some of his songs are not far off…he spent a lot of time in Nashville writing with all the heavy-hitter country songwriters." Dan Smyers explains. “So his music's got definitely a country flair to it and I know Nick is super inspired by what's going on here in Nashville. We've had many a late nights with him obsessing over Tim McGraw songs and Rascal Flatts songs."

Dan + Shay have also rocked the stage with Nick Jonas live before, an experience they look back on fondly. “We got to sing our first No. 1, 'Nothin' Like You,' with Nick on the ACMS a couple years ago, which was a blast." Could it soon become Dan + Shay… + Nick? We doubt the musicians will merge permanently, but a collaboration between the artists is a possibility that has fans buzzing already.

When talking about potential collaborations, Smyers admits, “You never know what kind of collaborations are in the works or in the future." Regardless, keep your eyes and ears open for more of the talented duo's escapades with a diverse set of music stars. The country star's may still be country at heart, but in today's musical age, their openness to collaboration is a welcome idea for fans.

We're obsessed with the idea of their potential collaborations, and luckily, you can tide yourself over with Dan + Shay's latest album, Obsessed, which is available for stream and purchase now.
