Thomas Rhett & Baby Willa Take Over The ‘Today’ Show

Thomas Rhett’s Today show takeover for the Citi Concert Series was much anticipated, the Grammy nominated singer took the stage to sing three of his hits as well as playing country trivia and taking in part of their cooking segment last Friday morning. The plaza was packed with fans, all hoping to get a glimpse of the singer and were pleasantly surprised when his newly adopted baby girl Willa Gray was in Hoda’s arms, playing with her microphone. Throughout the morning the camera loved Willa, panning to her and her mom, Lauren who is also pregnant with the couple’s second child. Rhett, his wife and daughter stole the hearts of Today fans watching all over the nation.

Before singing his number one hit “Die a Happy Man” Rhett revealed that his next album is slated to be released later this year and will feature songs about his wife Lauren as well as big life changes. Fans were excited to hear two more songs from The Home Team Tour headliner including “Star of the Show” and his current single “Craving You”.

Sitting down with Al Roker and Sheinelle Jones after his performances he talked about his rapidly growing family. “We had tried a couple years ago to get pregnant and nothing ever happened. And we always knew in our hearts that we wanted to adopt. It was always in our hearts to do that, and so when nothing happened we were like, ‘Well, maybe this is the time to do it.’ And my wife had been to Uganda a couple times that year, and we met Willa when she was about 6 months old…She is such a blessing. And when we were over there, we found out we were pregnant!”

Rhett extended The Home Team tour well into the fall, including five dates in the UK. Check out full tour dates on his website here.
