Not so long ago Lauren Alaina auditioned for the reality singing competition American Idol and stole our hearts with her sweet demeanor and beautiful vocals. Since then, the budding country artist has had a number one hit with her single “Road Less Traveled" and is now making her acting debut!
The country singer will star in a Road Less Traveled, a feature-length film written by Michael and Samantha Shear and directed by Blair Hayes. “I am so excited to be doing a movie," Alaina says. “This is a whole new world for me … We have such an awesome cast and crew, and I can't wait for everyone to see this new side of me." The film features Alaina as a singer/songwriter named Charlotte who returns to her rural roots while she struggles to find balance between her upcoming wedding and her career in Los Angeles. As she attempts self-discovery, Charlotte runs into her high school boyfriend, Ray (played by Donny Boaz), and questions what her life could have been if she'd never left her hometown.

The film also stars ason Burkey and Charlene Tilton and was produced by MarVista Entertainment and executive produced by Kristopher McNeely and Fernando Szew. The movie was filmed in Knoxville, Tennessee, and McNeely says it was an ideal arrangement for both the movie crew and the country music industry. “As a boy growing up in Oklahoma, country music and its roots in Tennessee were important influences for me," McNeely says. “Hopefully this is just the beginning of a long relationship in the state bringing Tennessee and country music to millions of fans worldwide through film."
