The first single off of Chris Young's seventh studio album, “Losing Sleep" is giving his fans a small glance into what new music might sound like for the country singer.
Young wrote his new track with Josh Hoge and Chris DeStefano and it was produced by Corey Crowder. Introducing some new sounds, a groove that fits well with Young's smooth, velvety voice, “Losing Sleep" themes are similar to his number one hits, “I'm Comin' Over" and “Getting' You Home."
The lyrics are sexy while not offensive: “Fall into me / Let me breathe the air you breathe / I can take you anywhere you wanna be," Young sings in “Losing Sleep." “When it comes to us / Every single touch is something special / When we're wrapped up in those sheets / Yeah, we're winning when we're losing / When we're losing sleep."
Young has had success with sensual songs, his traditional country voice a nice contrast to a pop-infused melody. “With every new album I think I want to try and write something easier and not so high in my register, but of course, on 'Losing Sleep' we push the boundaries even further and layer in some fun, new grooves too," he says of the song.
Looking forward to a new album, slated to be released this Fall, fans can most likely look forward to the Chris Young signature sound with a modern twist.
Young, along with Charlie Daniels, will headline the Grand Ole Opry's Salute to the Troops on May 23rd. The event honors veterans of Operation Desert Storm and will also feature Trace Adkins, Terri Clark and Dailey & Vincent, as well as the MusiCorps Wounded Warrior Band, which is a group compiled of injured veterans. He is also out on tour supporting Jason Aldean.
