Lauren Alaina (EP) (2015)
Road Less Traveled (2017)
Lauren Alaina Kristine Suddeth
Born in the city of Rossville, Georgia, Lauren Alaina began singing as early as three years old. As a young child, Alaina would sing in churches, restaurants, karaoke, and even in a kids' choir. Growing up around country music, Alaina's mother said that by the age of 4 she could "sing like an 8 year old." And, by the time she was actually 8 years old, Alaina entered a talent competition called the Southern Stars Pageant where she won. The following year, Alaina was invited to sing on the Kids talent stage at Chattanooga's Riverbend Festival. In addition to singing annually at the festival, Alaina also competed in the American Model and Talent Competition in Orlando, Florida, where she placed first out of nearly 1,500 other children. By the time she was 12 years old, Alaina was already traveling to Nashville to perform at local bars. Even though Alaina felt that patrons weren't always listening to her singing, these opportunities allowed her to develop her stage presence. And, when she wasn't performing, Alaina was writing music. Once she felt like she had a range of songs suitable for her first album, she began to work with producers on developing her debut.
Alaina's musical career began the day she auditioned for the tenth season of American Idol when she was fifteen. She was in Nashville when she made it to the next round after the initial tryouts. Alaina made it to the finals, and although she placed second, she was certainly a favorite among judges and fans alike. Her first single "Like My Mother Does" was available after Idol, and sold 200,000 copies during the first two months of its debut. She secured a recording contract with Mercury Nashville thanks to the success of "Like My Mother Does." Lauren Alain released her debut studio album, Wildflower, on October 11, 2011. The album reached number two on the US country charts, and Alaina was able to share her music with the nation when she performed on numerous television and radio shows, including Ellen and Good Morning America. Following the success of Wildflower, Alaina began working on her second album in 2013. She released her eponymously named EP on October 2, 2015. Less than a year later, Alaina was back in the studio and she dropped her single "Road Less Traveled" on July 11, 2016. Her sophomore album of the same name was released on January 27, 2017, and her success in the country music world has earned her numerous nominations, including Top Country Song for the 2018 Billboard Music Awards.
