EARLY LIFE
American singer Kelly Clarkson grew up in Fort Worth, Texas and sang choirs growing up. Her mother was an English teacher and her father was an engineer and her parents divorced when she was six years old. Until singing in choir in middle school, Clarkson had no formal vocal training but then went on to continue to perform in choir and in several musicals in middle and high school.
MUSIC CAREER
After high school, Clarkson received offers to attend multiple universities but decided to turn the offers down in hopes of pursuing her dream of becoming a professional singer. Clarkson gained fame after her time on American Idol in 2002 and has since become one of the biggest names in both the pop and country music spheres. She has won 13 Billboard Music Awards, four American Music Awards and three GRAMMY Awards. She has worked with Reba McEntire, Jason Aldean and Josh Groban, and has hit the road on 13 tours! Clarkson is one of the most regarded names in music and most recently recorded “Keeping Score” with country duo Dan + Shay.
