EARLY LIFE

Country singer-songwriter Jason Isbell was born in Green Hill, Alabama near the Alabama/Tennessee state line. His parents had him when they were very young so he grew up in northern Alabama with his parents and grandparents near their family farm. Isbell began learning to play various instruments when he was just 6 years old alongside his father and grandfather and began playing in a country cover band when he was 14 or 15 years old. By the time Isbell was 16, he had the chance to play at the Grand Ole Opry and from here his music career began to take off.

MUSIC CAREER

Jason Isbell got his start by submitting his own demo tracks and eventually signed a deal with FAME Studios when he was 21 years old. He started out as part of the rock band Drive-By Truckers during the early 2000s and in 2007 he decided to part ways with the band and begin his own solo career. Since going solo, Isbell has released 6 successful full length albums, has topped the country music charts, and has received 4 Grammy awards. Isbell is most known for his hit song “Cover Me Up” which has nearly 20 million streams of Spotify.
