Craig Wayne Boyd
Craig Wayne Boyd was born in Mesquite, Texas on December 31, 1978. Growing up in the suburbs of Dallas, Texas, Boyd’s main musical influences consisted of gospel and country music. Much of his early exposure to music came from the church and was active in his church choir, eventually becoming the director. In 2004, he moved to Nashville to pursue music fulltime, and soon had a publishing deal with EMI, spending much of the next 10 years songwriting and touring as support for other country stars. However, Boyd wasn’t making as much headway in the industry as he would have hoped and considered quitting music due to financial hardships.
The singer’s luck took a turn though, when he auditioned for the seventh season of The Voice, and landed on Blake Shelton's team.
Boyd’s dynamic singing voice, instrumental skills and easy musical versatility made him a fan favorite, and eventually helped him become the reality show’s overall winner. Boyd started working on an album, releasing a single called "I'm Still Here," but continued to work on a full-length project for the next few years. The country singer would later join forces with producer Will Edwards to record his debut record Top Shelf, released by Copperline Music Group in October 2017.
